In recent years, India’s film industry, colloquially called Bollywood, has thriving in new and exciting ways. The rapidly growing market requires the right tools to keep up with the changing tides, such as world-class post-production facilities. The newly founded Knack Studios fills this void. Envisioned as a top-tier facility capable of offering audio, video, and even CGI post-production services, much of the studio was designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group to offer the highest caliber of performance, and RPG is proud to have contributed to the effort.
Fulfilling a Need
Knack Studios was originally envisioned as a recording studio mainly for musicians and songwriters but as the project’s design stage evolved, the approach shifted to include video post-production and a focus on India’s film and television markets. The entire first floor is dedicated to audio processing and was completely designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group to cater to a wide variety of needs, including a live room large enough for a small orchestra as well as a large control room. These spaces are of course accompanied by high-end recording equipment and technology, as well as impeccable acoustics that are rounded out with RPG Acoustical’s products.
RPG Products Utilized
Knack Studios takes advantage of three RPG Acoustical technologies: the Flutterfree, BAD panels, and the Modex Plate. The Flutterfree offers high frequency sound diffusion packed into an attractive, furniture grade acoustical wood plank. The surface topology of these planks helps preserve high frequency energy while uniformly redistributing it back into the space. The BAD panels are used to eliminate excessive low and mid frequencies without making a space feel “dead” and lacking in character. Lastly, the Modex Plate is a dedicated low frequency sound absorber perfect for studio control rooms as it allows bass control over several octaves that is necessary in smaller spaces that suffer from low frequency issues.
