Project File: Rochester Institute of Technology’s MAGIC Spell Studios

RPG Acoustical is proud to have been part of the Rochester Institute of Technology’s new MAGIC Spell Studios.

Located in Upstate New York, Rochester Institute of Technology is rapidly becoming a leader in  digital media education. With the growing demand for state of the art technology, it was required that the Institute upgrade its facilities to provide the highest quality resources for students. RIT employed the services of architect SWBR as well as acoustical consultant Dennis Janson Design to envision and bring to life the brand new MAGIC Spell studios. As a state of the art facility to match any digital media needs, the studio focuses on a number of disciplines including film, animation, graphic design, virtual reality, and gaming. Let’s take a quick look at what the project was and what RPG products were implemented into the design.


Project Profile: Tivoli Ave Theater in Sydney, Australia

This week, we want to talk about a recently completed private residential theater in Sydney, Australia called the Tivoli Ave Theater. The space takes advantage of three RPG Acoustical products: our slotted Modffractal diffusers in a Mahogany finish, the solid Mahogany FlutterFree-W, and   Expo Panels in a colored lacquer finish. These technologies work together to create an ideal, premium theater experience that simply can’t be beat. Let’s break down some more information on how the theater benefits from RPG-engineered products and what makes them so unique.


Project Profile: Erie Community College’s State of the Art STEM Building

Erie Community College has a new STEM building equipped with customized Clearsorber Panels, which are both visually appealing and functional.

Erie Community College, located in upstate New York, is one of the many schools within the reputable State University of New York (SUNY) system. While the institution has long been known for its fantastic academics, the campus itself had less of a shining reputation—that is, until they opened up their state of the art STEM building equipped with all the facilities such an educational powerhouse needs. As part of an overall effort to modernize the school, Erie Community College’s STEM building is a fantastic step in giving students the facilities they need to obtain a world-class education and RPG is proud to have been part of the endeavor.

In recent years, India’s film industry, colloquially called Bollywood, has thriving in new and exciting ways. The rapidly growing market requires the right tools to keep up with the changing tides, such as world-class post-production facilities. The newly founded Knack Studios fills this void. Envisioned as a top-tier facility capable of offering audio, video, and even CGI post-production services, much of the studio was designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group to offer the highest caliber of performance, and RPG is proud to have contributed to the effort.

As one of America’s largest institutes of higher education, Drexel University offers a wide variety of disciplines to suit the interests of any academic. First launched in 2004, the Music Industry program has grown in popularity and excellence, creating the need to expand its facilities. To accommodate the needs of the rapidly growing Recording Arts & Music and Music Business programs, the university took action to scale its facilities with its population. RPG is proud to have contributed a number of its products to the project.

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is a world class institution that takes advantage of our Omniffusor FRG to create an ideal learning environment.

High school is an environment that fosters the intellectual and creative spirit of young adults, and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts is a world class example of this kind of institution. Since 1974 the school, located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, has been ensuring that students are well equipped to pursue a career in the arts, incorporating everything from dance, music, the visual arts and more. The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is such an important Washington D.C. educational institution and RPG Acoustical is proud to have been a part of the project.


Project Profile: A Modern Twist on Traditional Dining With Les Sablons – See, Taste and Hear the Difference

Les Sablons offers a unique dining experience that offers thrilling auditory and visual experiences as well.

Located in the historic Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Les Sablons offers a dining experience crafted by some of the most experienced restaurateurs in the Boston metropolitan area. Describing itself as “somewhere between London and Paris,” the establishment offers modernized twists on French classics that have long been favorites of those who love fine dining. With a menu that includes everything from monkfish to rye spaghetti, Les Sablons is ideal for those already familiar with classic French cuisine but are seeking a unique experience. Les Sablons is amongst a growing new class of restaurants opening around the country who are leveraging currentacoustical technologies available to designers for controlling sound levels beautifully. So not only do they deliver excellent cuisine and service, but they do so in an environment that is much less noisy and distracting as most other restaurants. We say—people are noisy, let them be—there are solutions for that!


Project Profile: Exquisite Taste With Nobu

Located in the heart of Washington D.C. and the West End, the area’s new Nobu restaurant aims to offer a completely unique experience for diners. The origins of Nobu go back to a passion for food between the acclaimed restaurant’s titular chef and actor Robert De Niro, now resulting in locations being opened worldwide, with over a dozen located in the United States. The upscale establishment is known for its Japanese fusion while setting a new standard for fine dining experiences, including its enjoyable acoustical design backed by excellent products from RPG Acoustical.


Project Profile: An Authentic Experience at the Portland Japanese Garden

RPG’s products don’t just fit in with the aesthetics of the Portland Japanese Garden, they also offer functionality that helps the auditory experience just as serene as everything else.

Nestled in the urban hustle and bustle of Portland, Oregon, there sits an unexpected oasis: a Japanese garden, described by His Excellency Nubuo Matsunaga, the former Ambassador of Japan to the United States, as “the most beautiful and authentic Japanese garden in the world outside of Japan.” While the garden has been open since 1967, it wasn’t until recently that it underwent a huge expansion, adding a Village House, Garden House, and Tea House that all contain galleries, a library, a gift store, and a multipurpose room. Clad in RPG Perfecto Micro acoustical ceilings in horizontal sliced bamboo veneer, the Portland Japanese Garden has become an escape for residents and travelers alike to enjoy art, music and learning opportunities.


Project Profile: Fantastic Acoustical Design at the Carroll County Performing Arts Center

Carroll County’s Performing Arts Center has been outfitted with RPG’s Modffusor as well as the Waveform Monoradial-W.

Carroll County’s Performing Arts Center, located in Carroll County, Georgia, offers an acoustically celebrated space that any serious performer would appreciate. The space offers the huge benefits of RPG’s Modffusor, a furniture grade natural wood sound diffuser that provides uniform mid and high frequency sound diffusion. Likewise, the Waveform Monoradial-W contributes to the clarity and intelligibility of speech and music. This 42,500 square foot facility offers a state-of-the-art, 1,100 seat auditorium, as well as meeting spaces for other uses. RPG Acoustical is  proud to have been part of this project and the development of this high quality performance space.
